Genuine Honda ones are best. One in each wheel will be enough. Get the wheels balanced after fitting them

Well dealer has rang me up and my crf 250l will be ready to pick up Saturday morning:)
So a quick question how do you run the bike in without rev counter!

Tyre sizes now

seems teh AC10 is only one size now 80/100x21 so thats the one then

Rear I have been advise 100/100x18 although not sure if 110/100 might be better - if fits. But I take the advise given on 100/100 rear though.

Do you actually need rimlocks?

Consider that tyres are designed to be held fast on the rim by inflation pressure.

The security of that is only reduced when tyre pressure is reduced. Manufacturers often quote road and off road pressures. Do you know what the reccomended off road pressure is on the Honda?

This reccomended pressure would have been worked out by Honda for a standard bike without rimlocks.

Ultra low pressures aren't suitable for an E Sussex run which has a lot of roadwork. Many of the lanes and minor roads leading to them will have a mettaled surface (sealed or unsealed) covered with a lubricating layer of weald clay. Higher pressures will help the tread bite through this and gain purchase on the mettaled road surface. Low pressure will cause the tread to float on the clay and straight through that misjudged corner into oncoming traffic...........

There's often talk of 8-10 psi on the forum which is fine for a trials/ldt/enduro bike used predominantly on the dirt. The Honda isn't light and it will be used predominantly on the tarmac. Too low a pressure reduces grip.

Also bear in mind that it's very low powered. That's unlikely to exert enough force to generate tyre creep.

IF your going to get one just ride as is for a while before tinkering with it. I suspect it will ride fine on the lanes at 18-22psi which will negate the need for rimlocks.

Bear in mind that I run the 690 (roughly same weight) at 20 - 22 psi without rimlocks and it doesn't suffer from tyre creep. It puts out over 3x the power of the Honda.

Don't forget tyre sizes mean nothing as each manufacturer has different ways of measuring the width.

You will need to say what bike it is and for what conditions and they will advise.

All these words of wisdom just lead to confusion. :?:  I do thank you for them though.

I have no idea what Honda recommend for off road pressure, and I am sure they dont either.

As to the weight, well its a lot lighter by feel than my 640, so your 690 must have been a flyweight then.

So I have ordered two rim locks, 13 sprocket, AC10 tyres and thicker tubes.

Will I need rim locks, who knows?? but will run 15 psi as the WR.

As to tyres, well only once size for front, and gone 100/100 rear

I have decided not to just ride it again, but do a bit of pre before. If the tryes are like my MT21 as std I would soon be on the floor.

As to what is suitable for East Sussex, I have no idea, I will just ride to what I end up with.

I will order bash plate, gear lever and risers next.

Rimlocks are well worth it.

Some bikes, like JP's KTM, have very grippy rims that will hold the tyre bead even when flat. To break the bead on my 950, you have to drive a car over the tyre, or use the bike's side-stand as a bead-breaker and the bike as a 200 kg hammer. I suspect that this won't be the case with your Honda.

Tyres at single figure psi grip and self clean far better in mud, and you can ride home with a puncture if you have rimlocks...just be prepared for the bike to want to go straight on at every corner it is the front!
