at the moment I ride a Honda CRF250L and it's completely standard, other than I got fitted AC-10 tyres.

One mirror is off, not broken, just they do my head in when they come loose, can never get them tightened up in the right place again they confuse me. Handle bar is very slightly bent.

See my post a couple of pages back for new bars if required.

ive bent 2 of the rfx alloy gear levers now. Once they bend, you cant bend them back. I am now onto an oem honda crf150r lever. Folding tip and made of steel, at least I will be able to bend it back, cut or weld as required.

Hi Kevin, All

I fitted the OEM CRF150R gear pedal to the TBM CRF250L too. Fits on perfectly, almost identical bend to original and as you say, steel and with a flexy tip. Now I just have to fall off the thing to test it...

The bike (and me) recently completed four days going coast-to-coast (Kent to Wales) on green lanes with John Vanuffell. Not one issue, not even one spill, it's such a good bike. I did get a puncture mind, but that's not the bike's fault. I've done a fair bit now in terms of adding risers, alloy handlebars, and crash protection (all on a budget) – all of which was meant to be detailed in this month's issue but after the first part of the C-to-C story ran on so long (ahem) it's being dropped into the next issue instead.

Pic here of the bike (and John and his 690R) somewhere in the Cotswolds. It rained a fair bit, I'll say that much.

Apologies for the plugs there for the magazine but I have to say Melber's committed to the TRF cause and has been for what, 19 years now?

I'll post up some more CRF-L bits and pieces soon, but flat out with writing magazine copy at the mo...!

Best

JB

I would like to slowly and surely improve and upgrade my CRF250L over time. Probably get sump guard and rad guard first of all.

I doubt by the time the first MOT is due it will have any indicators or mirros. :?

What with 28 pages of mods, would you all not have been better getting a CRF(x)....? The only mods I do to mine are put petrol in it and clean it....

Not really. Bash plate, tyres and hand guards are all you need to get 8000 mile service intervals. Great for green laning but won't win any enduros.

Depends what sort of riding you do. For example, would you ride your X at 60-70mph for an hour to get to a meet up?

Two different bikes for two different things.

Or the same speeds for seven hours riding home from deepest Wales... Seems you have to ride one to believe.

As more and more lanes are closed, a bike with the ability to cover a decent amount of road miles at a decent pace seems to be more of a requirement to me.

Let the non believers carry on with their race prepped machines ;)
