I've just ordered a Cruz Fender mount tool kit, as I've had one of their kits for my R1200GS for a couple of years now, I know the quality is excellent, so we've done a deal on these for club members at knobblies.org and I can extend that to TRF members also. They're selling for £79.99 + £5 p&p, but we have them for £75 and no postage on top. Pm me if you'd like one.

The kit contains:

10mm combination spanner

4, 5, 6mm Hex bits

Zip ties

Locking wire

Mole grips

1 x sachet WD40

Tyre pressure gauge

Insulating tape

5/8”, 3/16” combination spark plug -socket

Torch

Mini 4 in 1 screwdriver

Tyre levers

FWIW I have a spare tube mounted on my front mudguard and this seriously affects stability at speeds over 60 mph unless its mounted very close to the headlamp. The further out it is (i.e. away from the headlamp), the greater the headshake at speed. I'm guessing weight is a factor. I'm guessing these tool kits are a lot heavier than a tube.
Might be worth mounting your toolkit as close as you can to the headlamp w/out affecting the beam and then approaching hi road speed with caution first time out.

cheers
axa
p.s. I don't *think* my head bearings are shot ;-)

I've had a spare tube on mine also, but can't say that I noticed any issues, however I will mount as near to the headlamp as I can. Kit arrived today and looks excellent, well pleased with it. If anyone else would like one - let me know.

This is the base plate on...note that it has velcro on the surface which also secures the tool kit as well as the straps

The tool kit bag has two separate zipped layers, the first has room to add in a few more bits if needed:

Not much good if you want/need to ride home in the dark. Surely the obvious place for this sort of size and weight is on the rear fender(sic).

While we're on the subject of tools. One that I can recommend is the Motion-Pro Multi tool http://www.adventure-spec.com/shop/trai ... od_91.html . One word for it.....superb.

Are you saying that it obstructs the headlight? It doesn't - it's just below the level of the headlight. and it' slight enough for the front mudguard to cope just fine I have another bag on the rear mudguard, that's why I've placed it on the front. It can of course be placed at the rear as well. The quality of the Cruz tools kit is excellent. It even has a set of tyre levers, led torch and much more.
