 Post subject: CRF speedo drive

Hi ALL hope someone can help the speedo drive on my CRF 450X has packed up does anyone know where I can pick one up or do I have to pay over £90 :cry: :cry: for a new one.

I would start at the wheel first.Is it the plastic gear that has shredded its teeth or the bevel gear that takes the drive from thel to the cable?Or is it the cable that has failed.

Best to post up a picture,then if someone recognises the parts as being the same as say the XR400 parts,it widens the scope of fixing the job cheaply.

Have you tried David Silver spares? When I last had a Honda, that was the best place to buy lots of items.

Have you thought of replacing it with a TrailTech, £70.00 on EBay and you get Speed, Revs, Temp a clock and a lap timer should you require them. They come with all the correct wiring to suit your bike and a mounting bracket is a doddle to make!!
I did this with my old CRF450X and found it worth while just for the clock as well as the easy read speedo.
