good point steve  - haven't really tried at all yet - i'll get the LAF presentation out the way then 'project XR' is go,

was thinking of putting a little petrol direct through the spark plug hole to check the spark is OK and that it will fire up ( goodish spark when cranking the engine with the plug grounded) - anyone got any experience of doing this - how much petrol should I put in?

Come on, Adam, start another post with the symptoms/problems. I don't want to get to Cornwall and find out the XR is dead! p.s. can you get some of that 'easy start' stuff from Trago and squirt it straight down the carb?

instead of pouring petrol down the plughole.................... spray 'easystart' into the air filter side of the carb, then kick over/leci start.............

this is of course after you have checked that the plug/cap/lead etc, carb jets/needle are all set and/or clean and that your valve clearances are right and not tight................

I have just seen the reply above, re easy start.......... ............
