I was surfing the web today looking at various bike related web sites when I came across this,

http://www.wheelskawasaki.co.uk/content/pages/kawasaki/new-kawasaki-bikes/dual%20purpose/2012kawklx450r.htm?location=1

It was news to me!

How long have kawasaki made a 450 version of the KLX250 and does anyone know if they're any good?

Cheers

Richard

back issue of tbm did a kinda review when the raced the old wr400 they restored against the green 450 basically said it was a good piece of kit also appeared in the 450 review again a few issues back

They basically gave kawasaki a hard time as they just cant really be arsed to promote there dirt bikes but the said the engine was great sorry i cant remember any more

There has been a KLX450 Enduro bike around for a while, its been in TBM a few times and looks like this

http://www.mbike.com/kawasaki/klx450r/2 ... hoto-17362

Thats however not the same bike as in your link????

On the Kawasaki site they show the 450 as the Enduro bike http://www.kawasaki.co.uk/KLX450R

Have they got the pic wrong on the Wheels Kawasaki site? In fact I think they have, that's a pic of the KLX250 ?

Or have they also brought out a KLX450R trail bike with the same name as the Enduro bike KLX450R ?????

It's odd to call the 250 a KLX which is a trail bike and also call the 450 a KLX which is an enduro bike.....

Cheers

There was a tie up between Suzuki and Kawasaki some time ago and they made a KLX400, however it was in reality nothing more than a DRZ with green plastics! AFAIA there was no joint engine development.....

I think Colchester Kawasaki have the pics correct

This is the 250 trail bike (steel frame)

This is the 450 Enduro bike (ally frame)

Cheers folks

Looks like Spitfires right which is kind of a shame.

I do like the "enduro" KLX450 and if it was road legal like modern KTMs etc it would probably be worth the money too. TBM have always said "good bike but more suited to the trails than the race track" (or words to that effect) which is I guess a little like what they've always said about the DRZ.

Thanks

Richard

Must admit I had been keeping an eye on them, for one thing as there some very cheap low miles examples about. Looks like it would make a nice trail bike, however they dont seem very popular.

I nearly bought one years ago i did some research and found out they are prone to overheating problems. Other than this they seem good bikes.
