The battery on my DR-Z 400 recently failed and it is only a year old. I know they get a lot of hammer but I don't really want to fork out for a new one too often. It charges ok but after a few attempts at starting it loses it's juice. A mechanic suggested one of the cells is shot.

I was wondering if anyone can recommend a quality brand......something heavy duty. Decent bike shops are non-existent around my way so it's hard to get sound advice. The last one was a Kyoto Ultra YT7B-4 6.5Ah. Is this any good and have I just been unlucky?

Any advice would be greatly appreciated! :D

Anything other than the standard one that Suzuki fit!

They're crap.

I replaced mine with a cheap and cheerful after market one four years ago (can't remember the make) and it's been no problem since.

Cheers

Richard

I think Yuasa are a good make. I use an Optimate to keep the battery topped up on both my bikes and haven't had a problem.

cheers

Odessey.

Made in GB and sorted the problems that the std Yuassa was causing on my KTM.

Limited range of sizes, so you might need to be a bit inventive with the battery box.

Got mine from Groves Batteries in Cheltenham, but you can get them on-line if you google.

Yes I did. :D Didn't find one at £32, but as you said, wackyracer...the price went up £10!

Got mine at MDS Battery sales on the web ( http://www.mdsbattery.co.uk ) A Yuasa for £39.99 including delivery.....sweet. Ordered it 10pm Monday arrived 10am wednesday. Impressive huh?!

Went out riding today in the Peak District and it worked a treat.....a trustworthy battery is something I've been taking for granted. Bump-starting my DRZ was not ideal!

Thanks for your input y'all!

:D
