To compliment my trail riding and so that I can access now closed trails, thanks to NERC2006 and general TRO'd UCR's

Now I am free to explore all these 'closed to motor vehicle' routes again and also a plethora of Bridleways and canal paths and old railway lines etc, plus all the free to use MTB trail parks that National Parks and Councils are pouring money into, whilst motorised routes are not repaired and failing into disrepair, in some parts

It's the future :mrgreen: ................for trails



What make and model is it and what made you pick this particular bike over the others that are available.

i am very interested in getting something like this ......not because of the issues of access but i need to get fit again after a year or so of decline.


It's a Specialised Levo Comp

Mid range with good components for fork and shock

Main reason for choosing it was that it is controlled by a phone app and it makes the power/battery life fully customisable and means you can plan a route on the app and send it to the motor and then follow the route on your phone as a gps and the motor adjusts the power for the severity of the terrain in terms of battery usage and pedal assist
Therefore you can tell the Bike to complete the route with a % of battery left at end - so you never run out
Also you can use the Bike around town without the power turned on if you want as the motor is disconnectable from drivetrain

Specialised was the most sophisticated in my opinion at present


ugh.....i cannot work the trip meter on my G450 so i will have no chance working that out.

sounds really good ....and expensive

yes they do come under the Cycle to work scheme but there is a upper limit of 1k I believe I looked into it as my employer has it set up we have about a dozen people who have bikes on it at work but only one e bike so far. In the end I got a self build e bike kit and put it on my old TREK 6500 made me happy and cost about £900 in the end not as clean looking as a shop built and rear motor not mid drive but it makes up for that in other ways

Half decent, but let down a bit by the fork, a Fox 34 Vanilla with 140mm travel would Be a worthwhile upgrade, or the air sprung version if you are worried about weight, but none of the air sprung forks deliver the advertised travel unless setup too soft, no getting around the physics of a small air chamber being very progressive (air works fine on the rear where the ramp up can be tailored by the shock linkage)

I'm pretty sure it's very flexibe. You can spent more if needed, but you'll only claim the tax and VAT (or is it the NI?) refund on the upper limit of £1000.

I know some guys at work bought £4.5k mountain bikes on the scheme.
And of course it's deducted at source so unless the wife scrutinises your payslip - she'll never know how much it really cost.............just kidding of course :lol: :lol:

Yes I think you can spend more, but only £1000 is allowable
