A bit dearer but, in my humble opinion, much more comfortable, are the soft armour ones.
Leatt Air Fit or Forcefield.
I swapped over earlier this year and the Leatt is way way nicer to wear than my old (not cheap) hard armour.

+1 For the Leatt Air Fit. Great fit and you don't even know that you are wearing it.

I have the Leatt Airfit aswell but you will find the zip is alcheapo and will break as had to replace mine with a heavy duty one...the alpine stars one is better quality

I have the force field vest. Decent kit. No zips , it's a bit of a pain putting it over your head. Other than that all good

Armour paid for itself on Sunday, my first proper off road in Peak District. Did not really know what I was doing, few offs!

I am a beginner and later on had improved a lot. the terrain was a lot harder than its looks.
