All make sense to me, maybe permits to ride on agreed roads, help with maintenance, it's all about working together, not them and us..

Couldn't agree more. I've always dreamed of us having a BDR style route though each national park here in the UK, just like they do in the states. Depending on the shape of the area, a route from north to south, or east to west. Riders would happily pay on entry for a number of days access and even better, purchase annual passes to be able to travel everywhere. All in addition to the charitable hands on help from willing TRF members that could also be received :D

From what I've seen of PDNPA and BBNPA, if they had a budget of just £5, they'd spend it on a 'no motorbikes in the park' sign.

What's their reasoning to not want bike & and income into the parks..excuse my ignorance as I'm not local to these areas but would certainly enjoy a weekend away riding some trails..and happily pay a permit of a tenner for a weekends riding, a couple of nights in a hotel..£80 plus food & drink £50..wouldn't be far short of a £150 weekend, bring a few mates too...they must have too much money up there...:) it just needs to be managed probably..and of course a willing to try something new...

They don't want motorbikes in the BB and PD parks...and certainly not off the tarmac.

They think we are horrible.

That's why.

It is not really that simple though is it?

Although these areas are are designated as a National Park, the National Park Authority do not, necessarily, own the land.

Most of the land within the NPs is in private ownership and all RoW within the NPs are subject to the normal rules of the relevant Highways Authority. Even where the NP are the delegated Highways Authority, they cannot simply disregard the law and give permission for higher access as they see fit.

No giving extra access, is not simple at all...but it can and is done for one-off events.

But I maintain there is evidence to suggest at least 1 English NPA has an active policy of promoting access by other modes at the expense of motorists/motorcyclists.
