The 690 is new to me I would now like to upgrade to a aluminium skid plate but which is the best to buy which covers the reservoir for the rear brake and possible linkage.?

I've got one of these fitted: http://www.adventure-spec.com/default/b ... 0-e-r.html

Or you could look at Rally Raid products:

I've used http://mecasystem.fr/ bash plates on my last 3 bikes.

Very strong. They've had some real hard impacts and did the job.

Looks like about 1/2 the price of the RallyRaid...and much prettier

They speak excellent English and are very helpful on the helpline.

I was lucky - my bike already had it fitted when I got it 8-). But would definitely recommend for quality and fit.

They do also come up sometimes on eBay.

+1 for Adventure Spec as it covers more than most. I put it on after having put a hole in the 690 engine on some rocks.
