Hi All

At the great amusement at the time for my Friend, at the weekend i fell over in a very deep puddle. Yes a good laugh at the time, but my WR 426 took in a big, and i mean big gulp of water and the bike went right under.

After draining the airbox and tiling the bike back numerous times, we managed to drain the cylinder and carb but every time we put the bike level to try and kick over the cylinder filled up again. After an hour or so, I took the exhaust pipe off to find loads of water in there.

Is there a better way to completely drain a bike in this situiation? ie is there a drain bolt somewhere that can be used?

Thanks for your advice

Russ

There's a good thread about this here - Advice needed re deep water

It really helps if there are several of you as the quickest way to drain the exhaust is to simply tilt the bike up on the back wheel. This is also a good reason why smaller flexible numberplates are good for trail riding.

Take the carb off and clean it out. Go buy about 5 litres of halfords cheap oil and some new filters. Drain the oil out that is in it now. Re fill start the bike and run it round the block then drop that oil and re fill again until all the White gunk has gone and the oil is clear.

Hi Bushwacker

Thanks for the advice, excuse my ignorance however as to why I should do this.
