Hello all

Am looking to get a trailer, ready for new bike and trf membership/days out on organised rides

Just wondering what you chaps do with your trailers when parked up in terms of security etc? Do you chain them to the car somehow?

Cheers

High quality heavy chain with a U lock that is a snug fit on the tow bar section coming from under the car. and through the A frame of trailer chassis, plus SAS wheel clamp that also covers a wheel nut, to stop wheel removal.
Bear in mind all security is only a visible deterrent nothing is thief proof

Try and park in a reasonably public place as well.

I also have a 20ft cable (plastic coated) looped through the trailer, the bike and the car secured with a heavy duty lock to deter opertunist theft and use it the same to secure the trailer to the car.
If they really want it they'll get it :(

An oxyacetylene cutter, welding kit and room for wheels and three runners may be a bit tricky to get in the car :D

Greetings,

You can pack your trailer in the car  if you have a Motolug trailer; http://motolug.com

If you park next to something solid - ie like facing a wall, then take the trailer off and put it on its side by the wall and drive the car up close and then chain them together.

If two of you arrive with trailers each, then park next to each other and chain the trailers together, or park back to back and do the same (one trailer on top of other).

Trailer wheels are also easy to take off. Take 'em off and lock them up out of sight.

Best thing is to find a sensible place to park up. Next to a burger van that has long opening hours is always a good choice!

I use an older version of this, I leave it hitched to the car and just put this on which stops them from un hitching it. Just remember to take it off LOL
