A big day for the TRF today. We launched a campaign that has been in the works for a little while now (right back from the success we had with the 'Outdoor Recreation Minister' debate in Westminster).

The campaign is designed to make it as easy as possible for Green Road users to find and contact their MP, asking them to support outdoor recreation and the role of Green Roads within this.

Short of holding someone's hand, I believe we have made it as easy as possible for people to take part in this crucial yet underused democratic action.

The campaign launched with this film on Facebook: https://vimeo.com/151832130
And directs people to this website: http://www.trf.org.uk/contact-my-mp/

You can see the Facebook post here (click 'Shares' to see where it has been shared and the comments generated): https://www.facebook.com/TrailRidersFellowship/

Hopefully Forum users won't need too much encouragement to take part in this campaign and use the above links to contact their MP. You will notice that we have asked all MP responses to be forwarded to mp@trf.org.uk - this will allow us to build a database of MPs who support our cause.

I'd be very open to feedback here as to how we can build on this initiative. How can we adapt it other uses? How do your regional groups need to use information like this?

We will be pushing this campaign over the next few months. It would be great if Group Chairmen could incorporate it into their monthly meetings. If you need any more information please just drop me a line - greg@trf.org.uk

You have made it very easy for people to contact their MP - well done. :D

I assume that as this is very important ALL TRF members will be getting an email and/or text asking for their support?

Thanks guys.

The campaign will be publicised as follows:

- Facebook (we have reached 31,000 people today alone)
- This Forum (this thread actually)
- TRF monthly email newsletter (14,000 subscribers)

These are the channels that I personally have control over. I would VERY much like it if the campaign were publicised on a regional group level at the regular monthly meetings. I would be grateful for any help that anyone can give to make this happen.

Best

Greg

I've not had chance to view it yet but, If that's the MP letter we were on about a few months ago, then I'll send my MP's reply in the week.
He was a bit non-commital but not necessarily negative.

Done, everything was so easy, it took less than 10 mins from finding out my MP to sending the email. Remember to add you name and full address to the email so your MP knows you are their constituent. We need to encourage all our members through whatever medium is available to us.

Well, my MP gave an almost immediate response.

"
Sorry Kelvyn

If this is a very nice way of asking me to support motorcycles and scrambling motorbikes being able to access green lanes, country footpaths and bridle paths then I cannot support this

Pat
"

Clearly she doesn't understand, and needs further education/information on the matter.

Got a response from my MP's office, almost straight away, and have arranged a face to face meeting with him Friday next week.
