Hi all, Recently checked oil level on my bike pre-ride only to discover milky oil. Changed oil and filter to discover what can only be described as magnolia coloured oil which I know is water in the engine. Bike was fine last time I rode and washed after use. After oil change warmed it up and reset oil level to find coolant overflowing from expansion tank. I'm no mechanic but this seems like all the signs of a head gasket/cracked head problem to me. It's exceptionally strange as I bought the bike brand new in May last year and have only covered 900miles all on green lanes. Also, bike seems to take on a fair amount of water in the air box when riding. Bike doesn't get any road use apart from in between the lanes. And yes it is out of warranty. i am yet to contact my dealer as he is still on holiday. Anyone else experienced such problems or have any ideas? Any assistance would be much appreciated.

first point of call has to be the dealer. If its not yet 8 months old and only done 900 miles he would be very short sighted not to at least try and help you out. Good luck ;)

Only get 3 months on yam dirt bikes. Some manufacturers only give 1 month

Yep - as said on FB, this is a well known problem with Yamaha.

They suck up water through the breather pipes, especially when you stall and then re-start in a puddle.

Change the oil and then get rid of it on Ebay ASAP, then buy a proper European dirtbike that is purpose designed for our environment.

Only one ktm fan so far that's not bad going. The thing is its boiling over in the expansion tank so I'm guessing it's a bigger problem?? Thanks for the feedback though

Did the oil turn milky again after oil change?

If it's sucked up muddy puddle water it will need a few oil changes to flush out +/- a strip down if it's sucked mud/sand/sludge in as well.

can you not install a t-piece in the breather pipe and route it up the headstock...it will create a air break and should stop any vacuum pulling water up? I know I had to do this on my drz and it cured any problems with water

Very easy fix with the breather pipes - just lift them up and put under the seat.
If its boiling the coolant unfortunately its probably the head gasket.
