Has anyone test rode or bought this bike or do you know someone who has and know their views?
I know it's a new bike but it's pretty much a next gen ktm 690 and I'm interested in the 701's pluses and minuses.
Cheers

Mick

One or two demo 'test pilots' have written about it on ABR.

The key 'platform' is the same as the KTM690. There's different suspension, 1 litre more fuel, small changes to the engine map, a less uncomfortable seat and (coming soon) a range of accessories more suited to adventure/touring than the KTM ones.

List price is £200 more.

I would investigate spares prices for the bodywork etc very carefully before buying...my understanding is that the stupidly high prices being asked for Husky parts continues under KTM ownership and parts unique to the Husky are likely to be very expensive to replace.

But double the cc

A CRF 250 L weighs in at the 140+kg region & plenty of trail riders buy them

I think the word 701 enduro is a bit misleading so it's more a dual sport bike than an enduro bike? It certainly don't look like an adventure bike to me?

I've been reading gb's topic about this bike on the abr forum, and it has been very interesting (for me at least),the tension and excitement as he waited for the 701 to land at his dealership for a demo was brilliant.he,like me owns a BMW g650 challenge which as far as mine is concerned has served me well but after 8yrs of good hard trailriding I'm finding myself doing repairs more and more often.
So with the challenge discontinued ( I would've considered a new one) I'm looking at the 701 or ktm 690,but I'm not usually one for following the masses so i'm looking mainly at the husky, first problem being the nearest husqvarna dealer with a 701 is a two and a half hour drive away!,so it may have to be ktm or keep patching the challenge up.

Have you considered a SWM? http://www.swmmotorcycles.co.uk/models/rs650-r

There is a dealer at Kirkby Stephen with a demo bike.

Never really heard or swm rod,but I believe they're linked to cagiva??,I wonder what reliability will be like and for that matter part replacement.having said that the same reliability question could be asked about the new husqvarna especially with the "fly by wire" throttle, will it stand all of the good old British mud and crud ?,it's also bloody expensive (701/690)
Oh,and the swm dealer is still an hour and a half away.

Thanks anyway rod.
