I do a lot of winter riding in all weathers. A significant proportion consists of a 26 mile ride to work around 0630 shortly after having a hot coffee = misted visor!

I've had some success with using an Arai Tour-X fitted with a pinlock and using an Oxford "Huff" breath deflector. When the snow falls even this can't cope and I then use an MX lid and double lens enduro goggles.

Hence going for the snowmobile lid. I did look at importing one from the states. Models are available with double glazed, electrically heated, visors.

Then I came across the Sierra Snow and it looked a good buy in comparison, being mindful of import duties.

Just arrived to day and will test tomorrow. The visor has a double glazing that is similar to pinlock. The air gap is greater. The inside of the lid is fitted with a well padded integrated breath guard that pulls right up onto your nose and moulds into place. The underside of the chin piece has another guard to exclude draughts. Putting it on it feels as though everything except your eyes and bridge of your nose is hermetically sealed way from the visor.
Did I mention it was toasty? The materials used seem super insulated in comparison to a normal lid - certainly the Arai Tour X and the Airoh.

I put the lid on in my garage (fairly cold part of the house) and had to take it off as was getting too warm! Don't think I'll need the balaclava.

I'm fairly optimistic I've found the best UK winter lid, and all for £120 :)

Bring on the snow and ice, can't wait 8-)

Try double lens enduro goggles. Make sure that the straps are adjusted so that the foam secures firmly against your face with no gaps. One you put the goggles on, then leave them on! If you take them off the temperatures change and they will mist.

What's it like on the lanes though ? I have been using the Airoh but it steams up as soon as I get to 'the meat'... Get bustin in it and report back... Looks cool though, may take some of 'the heat' away from my muffs.. Sartorially speaking..

Found em for £100 but it's the 'edge' version... Think that means it's got graphics... Very tempted as long as the visor is double glazed... Like the sun shade thingy too... Looks like something off Halo...

Don't think that version is double glazed
