Just joined TRF, awaiting delivery of KTM 350 EXC-F. Any thoughts/recommendations on insurance providers? 3PFT v FC?

1. Fully comp
2. Get it garaged!
3. Lock it up. Use Almax chain and squire locks.
4. Do not mention off-road, green lanes to insurance companies. They assume you are riding in competitions etc.
5. If you have other bikes, consider a multi bike policy. I have 3 bikes on one policy, fully comp, for around £180 a year. My first 'green laner' was insured on its own. Cost £150 and was a very similar policy to the one I have now.
6. Shop around!
7. Limiting annual mileage to 4000 per year can reduce costs as well.......

Enjoy!

...+1 to all 7 points above except i told my insurer about green lane use and off road use. All mods, suspension upgrades etc.

I was told in reply, green lanes are part of the road system and so you are very much covered. When off road, you will not be covered and ride at your own risk. Sounds fair enough to me.

Carole Nash- A great company imho. 75% of the bike market can't be wrong :D . Ever so slightly more money than the cheapest around, but not by much and i think you get a lot more cover than most when you read into the small details. They even own their legal side of things now so should you need to make a claim, everything's in house and should, ( ) be much quicker and smoother.

Re-insured myself again recently...can you tell :D

Ive just renewed my insurance for my ttr250. Carole nash quoted £143 with £400 compulsary excess. Hastings direct was £73 with £350 excess. Carole nash included being able to ride someone elses bike on my insurance but i didnt think it was worth double the cost.

...funny how insurance rates can fluctuate so much.

Gotta grab the best deal when you can sometimes and £73 is pretty damn good!

Did Hastings offer free breakdown cover?

Fit a ground anchor, dropped my insurance about £85 and gave me peace and mind! £168 fully comp with breakdown cover, helmet and leathers and European riding from mce on an mxc 525 desert racing model

Why full comp?

Surely when dropping the bike you are just going to repair it yourself? Or is it incase of some serious damage like a bent chassis?

Fully comp isn't generally much dearer that TPFT and does give peace of mind.
When you've chucked it off a lane into a river or down a steep bank, you might need all the insurance you can get, even on a £3k bike.
