What are owners thoughts on the power mapping switch? Does it make a significant difference?

Just be careful with your chosen insurance companies.
If you have an incident whilst 'off road' as such you will have a heap of trouble, especially if there is a third party involved.
Like I said in a previous post, the only company I know of that will cover you in these situations and also for events is MSM.
They are not expensive.
By the way, Beta XT = Top Bike !
No modification or alterations required imo. Now nicely run in and needs cleaning !

See the above link.
I reckon it is not a good idea....
Don't mess with something that doesn't need altering.

But no-one is going 'off road'. All the byways we use are legal roads, just unsurfaced.

Obviously, if you do an enduro day or whatever, you aren't insured.

Yes, that is correct. Although Some private events such as Hare and Hounds etc, do incorporate short sections on legal routes. If someone was unfortunate enough to have an incident whilst competing, albeit on a legal stretch you need to be sure the fine print does not exclude cover.
Certainly worth checking, better safe than sorry.

Agreed but I suspect you wouldn't get any cover if it was the road part of a hare and hounds as they all seem to exclude racing or pacemaking. A bit of a grey area that we would never win on.

Greetings,

I understand that the ACU has introduced an insurance system for competitors to cover their non insured off road sections of trials events. Riders still need road insurance; correct licence; MOT; etc

I did get a quote from MSM (I'd used them a few years ago). They wanted over £200 just for the xtrainer, 3rd PF & T. They don't do a 3 bike multi policy (1 is a road bike) and you can't build up no claims etc....
I understand what they are selling, but as I only trail ride and occasional ACU events like LDTs, I choose to use standard bike insurance for road/trail and ACU event insurance at each event (normally £5 or £10).
Thanks for the advice though.
