If the weather is good and I don't need a jacket I wear an Acerbis Koerta "pressure" suit like this under a race shirt

I also wear EVS Vision knee braces which protect against impact and hyper-extension

I wear gloves with a carbon fibre cover over the knuckles and Alpinestar Tech 3 Enduro boots and my motocross trousers have padding on the hips.

In colder weather I wear a jacket with built in armour on the shoulders, elbows & back instead of the pressure suit.

I fall off a lot! :D

same here but cheaper knee pads

The choice is yours but always protect your spine. If you need proof look on TBM forum and see what happened to Fenty in a fairly low speed spill. He will not walk again although his outlook is inspirational.

OK, I'm sold on the idea of decent protection; a friend had a low speed off and spent two years on crutches with a wrecked knee.

Interesting though that trials riders wear little more than helmet, gloves and boots yet serious injuries are rare?

I've just ordered a No Fear Empire body armour suit for £70 from DirtbikeXpress - seems a very good price as very little if anything out there is less than £100 normally.

They rarely get cross-rutted at 30 mph either! ;)

After 15 years of working in A+E I can confirm the obvious -

The more protection you wear the less likely you are to get hurt when you have an accident.

I'm still amazed that it's illegal to ride a 29mph moped without a helmet but you can ride a pushbike downhill at 40mph or gallop a horse with no protection whatsoever.

I've seen far to many examples of cyclists and equestrians falling off at slow speed and sustaining permanent brain injuries or worse.

After breaking my elbow on Salisbury Plane3 and having to ride my Husky 610 back to Gloucester I decided to invest in some elbow guards.

Money well spent

i done gatesgarth at the lakes a couple of weeks ago and had quite a heavy off,

i think that i would have broken my arm if it had not been for my body armour as it took most of the force, i was quite lucky as i only had cuts and bruses.

i always wear armour, boots, gloves, knee pads and helmet even if i am only out for a 'quick' ride out.

keep it between the bushes.

Mmm, that's how my mate wrecked his knee. The paramedics weren't too impressed with having to drive miles across the fields to get to him either, it was nearly an air ambulance job.

Arrived at 9.00am this morning - impressive service.

Just tried it on for size and seems as though it will be pretty comfortable.
