I'm looking to get some "Waterproof" MX/Enduro boots to use out on the lanes. I dont do serious competitions or anything so thought the Adventure boots would be ok for exploring the peaks. I wanted to know if anyone has any experience of them, good or bad :) it's a lot of money for boots if they arent up to the job

Regards
Greg

I just got some budget Alpinestar Tech 3's with grippy sole a size above normal. I use waterproof socks and then some extra thick ones plus a liner sock. Have had lovely warm toes since!!

Boots with a waterproof membrane are ok untill you get water in them!! It's then stuck and difficult to shift!

Most non waterproof boots have very good water resistance and tend to be more breatheable too. Haven't seen the Sidi adventures. I've found most "adventure" type boots to lack protection compared to a mx/enduro boot.

Using some dubbin or similar shoe stuff works wonders for water resistance.

have a look at the forma atv one boots, they are waterproof a lot more flexible/comfy than regular mx boots, and have a grippier sole

i think i paid about £150 for mine - £130 here http://www.funtrax.co.uk/collections/bo ... rail-boots

they have changed the name on the forma website to "adventure" but i can't see these for sale in uk. atv one's are though and they look exactly the same.

these are so comfy you forget your wearing them. i wear wear em on my road bike to and can change gear just by my ankle ;)

Thanks for the reccomendations. I have some Tech3's and waterproof socks but I still get cold feet because the water still gets inside the boot. If I put warm socks on under the waterproof ones, then the boots are too tight and uncomfortable. I also have a set of Berik Contenders and they are very bad for letting water in/giving me cold feet.

May have to have a look at the Forma ATV boots .... Thanks chaps :)

Have you tried thin merino wool socks like smartwool or silk liners under the waterproof socks?
You can also get thicker /woolier versions of the waterproof sock designed for the shooting hunting crowd :)

hehe ... I've tried salopetts which seemed to work well in the cold/snowing but I still got wet feet.

I'm due to go skiing soon so may invest in some proper thermal boot socks .... :)

I use sealskinz waterproof socks with army gortex boot liners, the bootliners keep things totally 100% waterproof

I'v worn sidi raptors for years now and fine these basic boots really good value for money. Giving good protection and being waterproof if used with sealskins.
