google, buff , i always wear one summer or winter !
you can pull them over your head like a balaclave under your helmet.

also m.o.d gortex waterproof socks, from £8 ebay, cheap as chips :D

another, wear condom type gloves under ur proper gloves, keeps ur hands dry/stops wind chill

Winter riding tips.........................

Do it, deeper the snow the better it's BRILLIANT :D

Just watch the tarmac sections and dickheads in cars who can't drive in winter conditions.

Wear layers | Get good gloves | make sure you are draft free

I've been out in the snow as much as possible! It's great stuff!

Just wanted some tips - I'm planning a ride over to the Swiss Jura next month via the Dieppe crossing. There's good trails en route and in the Jura.

I see from the pics someone has the new KTM rallye suit. How is it? I got last years one and really like it. Only niggle is that it lets a small amount of water in at the chest area where the collar joins the jacket. I wear a insualated goretex jacket underneath so not a prob.

I tried some neoprene gloves - scott s1 - good when on the trail but lack windproofing for the road work. Haven't got them wet yet and can't see them being warm enough when they are.

Bikewise I'll be on a KTM 690 enduro. I'll run Trelleborg Army Special tyres. Am going to try some handlebar muffs for the road work. I've the small fairing fitted which is very effective for the size.

Luggage wise I've gone for hard panniers over soft. I travel light with soft luggage in the summer. Winter needs a different approach as I'm taking a few bulky items needed for reasonable comfort when camping in the cold. Bulkiest is a tent heater (Heatpal 5100). This runs on meths and can be left on overnight - runs about 10hrs on low.

Biggest hurdle is finding some suitable footwear. Is there any boot out there offering protection of an MX boot that is also warm and water resistant prefferably with a grippy sole? Doesn't need to be completely waterproof as not such an issue with snow.

Thanks for the advice so far - any more much appreciated.
