It looks like they just leave off the mapsquare letters, for instance

Old Park Lane, Aislaby (833 074) is actually NZ833074 - http://www.bdcc.co.uk/XMarksTheSpot.htm?g=NZ833074

This is the ENTIRE list of streets and isn't going to be a lot of use for planning rides without some local knowledge.

Thank you Womble but how did you determine that there needs to be 'NZ' before the number?

I appreciate your point but I am curious to know the location of lanes in my immediate area detailed on the NYCC list, in addition to the local knowledge.

I happened to have an OS map for the area and I used Google Maps to find out where Aislaby was - once I had located Aislaby on the map, I could work out what grid square was needed. It's not exactly a quick process though!
