While it's great to see so many people taking the time to sign this, why cant we get the same numbers for disputing TROs and user evidence??

Somebody agrees with me! Our southern TRF lads could run it

I went that route on a relatively pointless TVR rally to try and get the Government to help keep the company alive back on 2006.
A waste of time but great fun but....we had to clear it with the Met police and Ken Livingstone fixed all the traffic lights so it backed us all up round Piccadilly and Trafalgar Square. It was a Sunday and the public loved a few hundred(?) TVR's rumbling through London but boy did they try and muck it up for us and boy did they ignore us.

That's not to say it wouldn't be feasible but it needs to have an end purpose, not just a ride out as it's not a great place to ride (or to get to with a car and trailer).
I would say it needs someone in DEFRA to be the end recipient but someone who might be vaguely sympathetic.
Most of us would have a fair distance to go to get there and somewhere to park up securely (we used the Ace Cafe back then but it's hardly viable in this instance). A friendly central London company with a large car park with spare capacity?
With respect to you guys who go out on the PD runs, it's not quite so easy in a big city and there is no chance of a few lanes to ride either.

If there is a properly useful purpose and it can be arranged, then the publicity may be worth it. On bikes it might be easier than in cars but what are the legal implications of a mass ride? I think there are rules about this and the moment we have to get licences etc, I think it would all go to pot.

Do we know what DEFRA's stance on all these problems is anyway?

And - boy, would the Met cops have a field day stopping all those dirt bikes and going over them for every little nit-picking fault?

I know that our bikes are generally fully road-legal, but I wouldn't like to bet too much of my pension that a determined copper couldn't find something to give me a hard time over.

The perceived end result would have to be pretty special to make it a worthwhile proposition.

Well...actually the answer to that is NO..

I had the OK from the special dept in the Met that helps organisers of protests in London..
I had the OK from the local Councils (traffic Wardens etc..)
I had the OK from the DVLA.
I had the OK from VOSA.
The BMF/LARA would have provided liability insurance for the two hours of the march...

The Met Police would organise drop off and assembly areas, parking for the coaches and lorries and pick up/load areas...the route and provide escort and traffic management...


It was all ready to go. All that was needed was a large organisation to organise it.

Then with local groups organising their own coach for members and families and lorries for their bikes to meet up at a parking stage area to drop off, collect bikes and march to Downing Street then drop off the bikes at the lorries and have the rest of the day in London until the coach takes you home again... It would have worked out at about £20 per head from the Northern Counties and a little less for Southern Counties.. but with an added afternoon in London with the families that's not too bad and cheaper than a day down the local pub !

No need for tax, insurance or mot..unregistered bikes ok because we were to push them along the march route..hence the silent protest..no worries about smokey bikes, stupid riding etc.... And the Met Police and DVLA ok'd sorned uninsured untaxed non mot'd bikes specifically as we were to push them ....

It was first organised for the potential ban on Motorsport on sps farm land but that was sorted before any vote... Then again per NERC but sadly no one was interested from any of the official orgs like the TRF/LARA etc and we missed the chance...

10,000 bikes riders and family-friends..in normal clothing... Would have made a great photo.... The French had a series of mass protests and won the right to ride....why can't we?

It seems to me that if we are to gain any ground with this fight then we have to up our game substantially.
More publicity and a set of expert lawyers. (Oh and a shed load of money ! )
Presenting the petition to 10 Downing Street might be a mighty task but is the type of thing we must try and do.
The pressure is now piling up on the D!@Ks at the PDNPA and I am sure they are starting to get very worried.
Well done to Mike Irving and others for their great work for the TRF.

We can ! Maybe we will. ........if there is the resolve and support in numbers. The new board is not against focused direct action and i am prepared to front it.

There maybe an oppertunity to get some well known people involved... and to attend the protest...

Also Charlize Theron is well known as a motorcycle rider...

Some women have been riding for many years...


Many like myself dont know enough about famouse women riders , are there any on here who know more...

Having laidies on the protest will affirm our make up as being inclusive and normal....

Another tought is that the manufacturers of trail bikes and Enduros will ultimatly suffer should we continue to loose access and as such with a further deminished ability to ride on unsurfaced roads in the Uk then their year on year sales figures will drop..costing them a great deal of money...

Maybe we should be talking with them and asking them to help with persuading selebrities to attend a suitable well organised protest...

Also would groups like Red Bull be interested.. or that Monster drinks company etc...

What about Hammond and May, both ride road bikes, and could lead to some BBC coverage.......
