Peak District National Park Protest 24th May 2013.

If you have not heard already The Peak District National Park Authority ignored our presentations and those of the PDLAF (Peak District Land Access Forum) and voted to go to consultation for permanent TRO’s on Chapel Gate and pressing ahead with their plans to banish us from the main routes in the Peaks.

All is not totally lost because so far we have delayed implementation of closure to Stannage Edge and the Roych, reopened Chapel gate and delayed plans for nearly 18months. So much so that the PDNPA have had to go cap in hand to get extra funding. When Chapel Gate goes to consultation we need 10’s of thousands objections going in. Each letter or email slightly different so they have to read and evaluate every single one.

The real issue is the fact that the ARP committee has had its instructions from higher up that makes the outcome a forgone conclusion, so we go further up the Food Chain. The Authority Committee chaired by the Leader of the Authority Councilor Tony Flavell. Sitting on this committee are a number of members appointed by local authorities and by the Secretary Of State for the Environment, Food and Rural affairs.

The next meeting of the Authority Committee meeting is the 24th May 2013. I propose that we should be there to put more pressure on these people, to remind them that we will not go away and to show that we are getting stronger and stronger.

If you want to continue riding or driving the Green Lanes of our Heritage you have to stand up and be counted. I am imploring you to take a day off work and be with us on Friday 24th May at

Peak District National Park Authority Offices,
Aldern House
Baslow Road
Bakewell, Derbyshire,
DE45 1AE

Meet in the Carpark from 8.00am onwards.

It is vitally important as many Trail bikes and 4 x 4’s are there to show them that we are really angry……….target is 1000 because I know we can do it.

See you there

Everybody who was at the meeting of the ARP committee needs to be writing to the Secretary of Sate and saying the members of the committee are not doing the join they were appointed to do but going into committee with preconceived ideas and not listening to members of the public who spoke at the meeting.

Unfortunately, there were only 5 of us. Just a pity that Richard Benyon is the minister involved.

They were keen to get the TRO process simplified and shortened and have already approached Benyon for his support.

If you live in or near the PDNP write to

a) Your county councillor

b) Your MP

and ask them to write to the PDNPA to demand an explanation for their behaviour.

A letter from an MP (an elected representative) has far more clout agains the unelected NPA members than you might think.

You MP can also write to the minister on your behalf.

If an MP gets five or six letters on the same subject asking for more or less the same thing, he/she is very likely to realise that it is important

I am already in conversation with my MP, Toby Perkins, in Chesterfield. Please contact him if you are also one of his constituents as he is a local person and seems receptive to our cause.

these 5 people were the representatives of ALL the users of Peaks so legitimately we could all write to Mr Benyon? and let him know we are unhappy!

Next Friday, 24th May 2013 is when the Authority has its committee meeting at Aldern House, Bakewell.

This is a call for all Trail Bikers and 4 x 4 Drivers to congregate at the Peak District national park Authority Head office and show the members of this committee our disappointment and annoyance that our pleas for management of the lanes for ALL users are being blatantly ignored. Our presentations ridiculed and our sincerity doubted.

After the last ARP meeting it has become clearer that the Authority is hell bent on kicking us off the lanes by any means and our only option is to go higher up the Authority. This committee is chaired by the Leader of Authority, Tony Favell and he is the man we now need to speak to.

On Friday 24th May we will ask Tony Favel and his committee to reconsider his position.

We meet at the PDNPA offices Aldern House, Baslow Road, Bakewell at 8.00am.

Sometimes you have to go that extra mile to get something you really want. if you really want to continue Riding our Greenlanes then now is the time.

Please post this message on your forums
