Just to let any interested parties know, the Peak District TRF Group have invited the Motorcycle Action Groups' National Clubs Officer (Fergus O'Connell) to attend our next group meeting on Thursday 1st October from 8p.m. All groups/members are welcome but please let me know if you want to attend. Fergus will be updating us on how MAG functions, how it lobbies in the corridors of power and how the preparations are going for putting motorcycle issues across to prospective MPs at the next general election. We will also be discussing affiliation to and/or individual mebership of MAG. Forget about the single issue organisation it once was, MAG represents motorcyclists nationally and internationally on a variety of issues. So if you want to find out more you're more than welcome at:
The Joiners' Arms,
Church Road,
Quarndon,
Derby
1/10/09 @ 8p.m.

Regards, Steve (Peak Group Chairman)

Awesome news :) Hopefully we can get some more momentum... How about the BMF and high street bike magazines?

MAG rep Fergus visited the group last Thursday for what turned out to be a very informative talk. As a result the Peak Group will affiliate to MAG for the coming year, individuals may also choose to become members themselves. We've got ourselves an informal invitation to set up our stall at MAGs annual bash next year so we'll see what happens (volunteers, please!). It was interesting to note how MAG themselves came close to calling it a day in the late '80s (due to dwindling membership), but are still alive and kicking and fighting for motorcyclists rights in the corridors of power across the UK and Europe. With a membership of around 10,000 MAG punches well above its' weight and I believe they deserve more support. My thanks to everyone who turned up and particularly to Fergus for coming all the way from Hull to Derby (and back again) on his Beemer.
