Hi

I've recently joined TRF, interested in both green laning and MX. I just wondered if there's a group that meet locally? I live in Dursley and there's certainly lots of green stuff about but would like to know where i can and can't go.

Hi Adrian, Welcome to the TRF, you know makes sense.
Dursley AFAIK is on the edge of the Forest of Dean which is also on the edge of Herefordshire TRF area and we have several riders who know the forest well. Being south of the river, unfortunately I don't have a clue as to what is and isn't current down there but we have plenty of riders at our meetings who do. Next on is 3 October if you want to come along and say hello.OS maps BOATS and ORPAS are a good place to start.....
Failing that, Herr Commandant Mark Holland is yer man to contact here as he was ex chair of Glocs TRF I think....

Hi there.

The Gloucester Group is close to you and very active

There are also at least two groups in the Bristol Area.

A good starting-point is to buy the Ordnance Survey maps for your area and look for the Byways Open to All Traffic +++++++ in red or green, depending upon map scale.

Unless there is specific official signage on the ground indicating otherwise, these routes are all legal to ride for road-legal riders on road-legal bikes.

There are loads more legal routes in and around Gloucestershire, but it's best to seek advise from the local group about these.

The Gloucester Group also gets occasional access to some interesting areas in its role marking out horse endurance events ... like Cirencester Park for instance. If you go along to a Gloucester meeting you can find out more.

Still enough lanes to keep it interesting but we did have many more in the days of RUPPs

Nearest one to you is Axe Lane which runs behind the New Inn, not one for beginners when going up!

Unfortunately signage is very poor or non-existent in Gloucestershire unlike our neighbouring counties Wiltshire & Bath and North East Somerset so you really need access to the marked up maps to make sure you stay legal.

As Richard Simpson says, pleased to meet you at Gloucestershire group meeting on 4 Oct.
If you come along Tuffley Avenue from the Bristol Road the entrance to Tuffley Park and the Wagon Works Club is on the right after a long wall.
