This topic was discussed in the Group Chair meeting and the full rationale will be available to all members shortly.

The main reason by far is simply, Safety and demand from responsible TRF event organisers for training on organising events to the highest (ACU) standards and demonstrating our duty of care to attendees of our events.

As Andrew /Smokin has rightly mentioned there are other benefits -

In addition to Safety, these can be summarised by;

Influence
Road Conservation benefits
Access /TRO exemption
LARA funding

all arising directly from our association with the ACU.

Give me a few weeks to get all of the Group Officers that we have not yet spoken to directly up to speed on this and I will be happy to explain further if still not clear.

Many thanks

As a joint organiser of a TRF weekend for the last 2 years it will be a useful skill to my personal toolbox and also for my Trials activities

I would be interested, if we get a CofC certificate for running events especially Observed Trials competitions

What is the cost to members?

Bearing in mind the Safety first requirement behind this, it would seem to be in the TRF's interest to make this accessible as possible to members.

The TRF have no plans to charge for this training or for event insurance to cover you for organising TRF events.

More details of our meeting with the ACU were sent to group officers in June

So far, I have 3 members from Somerset interested in this Mario - possibly more to come.

Depending on actual date, the number of places available and bids from other groups, I'll pass you names of who is going nearer the time.

cheers
Colin B
