MINUTES OF HEREFORDSHIRE GROUP TRF MEETING
7 FEB 17

1. Intro. Gray welcomed all and intro’d Mike Pullin, lead fund raiser for the Hospice Angels who actively support St Michael’s Hospice, Hereford.

2. Brief on Hospice Angels (Mike Pullin – 07451 155411).
• St Michaels Hospice offers support to both the terminally ill and their families. Is state of the art with en suite single rooms, accn for carers. Many patients actually rtn home. Running costs c£5M pa, yet only receive 10% fm central govt.
• Hospice Angels have raised staggering £400k since 2003, incl £80k in 2016 alone. Angels always seeking ideas for fund raising. In past have organised m/c trips to France, Germany, Sweden, Ireland, Belgium, Slovenia and all over the UK. They’ve even ventured, with armed escorts and body armour, to Scotland on 2 strokes. (Obviously that last bit was bolox – they’d never make it as far as Scotland. Cheap Shot No 1). 80 members, 25 active, av 8 – 10 per activity.
• Activities, incl participation by Mike, incl 3 Peaks Challenge, battle field tours, parachuting and abseiling.
• Hfd TRF keen to participate and any ideas to Gray. Fun Day inviting other TRF gps?

3. Report on Le Touquet Annual sand race meet. 1200 m/c, 600 quads. Free to watch. £5 to park. 200mls fm RoW. 3 races incl vintage, kids etc. Each race 3hrs, fast guys lap in 12 mins! 2 & 4 strokes, although former given 25 min start (Cheap Shot No 2).

4. RoW Expert (Charlie Morris)
• CM provided CD with green rd routes to Nick Demarco (our RoW offr – and Secretary). Briefed mtg on the Blue Book and advice on designated green rds. Updated mtg on byeway claim with Brecon Nat Pk fm 2002; they’ve just decided not to action! Hardly helpful nor encouraging. However intend submitting Schedule 14 Appeal to Cardiff. Awaiting outcome.
• Discussion on notice in local mag (Golden Valley) that police combatting off-roading m/c in Black Mtns. Statements were individually factually correct yet as an entity at best ambiguous.
• The green rd “Brown Trousers” legal? Defaced signage not helpful. It is a Restd Byeway but also Unclas Rd!
• Note that CPS need prove beyond reasonable doubt that rider has broken law. In Sarn Helen case the CPS withdrew threat of prosecution. TRF involved in case. Being TRF member might help yr case. Even if found guilty usually £30 fine/non-endorsable offence. Can only seize m/c on 2nd offence + cause alarm/distress to member of the public. As matter of course strongly advise keep to max of 25mph. Also police offr must be in uniform.
• Heard that green rds in Glos closed? No, but numerous are now Restd Byeways. Still 200 routes aval.
• To all; emphasise that as members of TRF we ride green rds and not off-road.

5. GPS Trg (Gray). After the mtg Gray would provide trg/demo on MemoryMap and Garmin.

6. Future Rideouts (Gray). For the diary, actual date to be cfmd by leader via WhatsApp:
• 19 Mar : Vic Cotswolds. 0930 for 1000hrs RV Birdlip `dogging’ carpark.
• 25 Mar: Gray Devon. NB: one vacancy aval.
• Mar: Derek/Spike Wye Valley
• Apr: Kevin Clyro
• May: Spike Long Mynd
• Jun: Spike Wilts? Lead/assist by Andy House Wilts TRF?
• Oct? Dave Barmouth w/e incl camping. TBC

8. AOB
• Membership Offr. Intro Joe Stevenson. Reminder £45pa to join TRF.
• Worcs TRF. Mark Holden keen to join us, incl ride-outs. Is now on WhatsApp.
• Fin Report (Jim). For Feb £35.90 after purchase of main prize. £254 current balance.
• Prescott Bike Festival. Sun 9 Apr, £15 on gate, £13 on web. Excellent event and recommended. Nr Tewkesbury.
• Attendance. 35+ at mtg incl 3 guests (Mike Pullin, Charles Morris and Mark Holden).

9. Raffle

• Arm vents won by Florin
• Chain lube won by Mark
• Wine won by Wayne
• Maint spray won by Fisky
• Air filter oil won by Harvey

Thanks for your help - again - Nick. Secretary? Not a chance; have you seen me in a skirt?! Personally I blame any system/software/hardware that doesn't allow me to get stuff done (a) simply, (b) quickly and (c) immediately!
Lets go back to a cleft stick or a friendly pigeon...oh and white £5 (like the one's Gray keeps hidden in his wallet!)
