Dear Herefordshire TRF members,
Firstly who am I ?
My name is Graham Hutton but most call me Gray and GraySWTRF on the national TRF forum.
I have been involved in trail riding for many years, and currently ride a KTM 400exc.
I have been until very recently the chairman of the South Wales TRF group, for around six years. I was based in Ross On Wye until a recent house move, just up the road to Fownhope near Hereford. I stepped down as the South Wales chairman for two reasons, one because it forces others to take the lead, and volunteers are hard to find ! The other due to the 2hr 40min commute to hold the meetings nr Cardiff.
Needless to say, I have and still do lead many trail rides in all areas of the country, so the opportunity to trail ride on green roads is available to you.
Recently I have seen a few posts from people in Herefordshire on the national forum requesting rides and meet ups and thought I would try and make it official by starting a new Hereford TRF group to cater for all.
So I am in the process of organising a venue for a once a month 8pm time slot. Probably the first Tuesday of every month. To be announced.
The monthly meetings will consist of group member introductions.
Who are you, what bike do you ride, trail riding experience e.t.c
Monthly bike orientated prized raffle.
£2 a ticket and the residue amount from the cost of the prize, goes into the Hereford TRF Group account.
Rights of way
We will need someone "RIGHTS OF WAY OFFICER" who has a little knowledge in rights of way or someone who has a good knowledge of local lanes or even just good with a map.
Accounts
As a group we will have opportunities to raise some money. Via putting on events or helping with events. The raffle funds each month and maybe a local small levy to initially boost our new account.
So any budding volunteer TREASURERS out there ? Don't worry anyone can do this, it's just a case of setting up a group bank account, counting the pennies and announcing a final figure at the Hereford TRF meeting on how rich we are ! It isn't rocket science.
Hereford Group TRF group Rep....we are going to need one !
To liase with the other groups and attend the odd national meeting and basically keep us all in the picture as to what's going on and how we can help or get involved. Could you do that ?
Trail ride reports and future trail rides
Well this is what its all about really.
The key to everything.
Yes, I know most of you don't know where to ride, or maybe don't have the confidence to lead others yet.
So don't worry, amongst us all are those that are keen to lead. So together we can research on where to go and slowly build a variety of routes for future trail rides.
Once we have been on a ride out, we can write a hilariously upbeat ride report with a few pics and maybe a video or two which will encourage others to join the group. Utilising the National TRF forum and Facebook page.
So trying not to ramble on too much, which I think I have already !!
I need some very keen Herefordshire TRF members. Who are willing to contribute in whatever way they can, or just attend with their wit and humour and talk trail riding !
I need a lively an informative meeting to take place every month and volunteers to help run it.
Are you interested and would you be willing to help out ?
Kind regards
Gray

Just too add I have had many emails, and spoken to several people who are very keen to come along to the meeting and be involved in a new Hereford TRF group.
I cant thank you all enough. :D
We now have a volunteer ROW officer, and also some other very knowledgeable people keen to get involved.
The more,the merrier I say.
If you are keen on trail bike riding, and live in Herefordshire, then please get in touch.
Thanks All
Gray

Well done Gray!

Sadly I live too far away to take part, but I'd urge those who don't to join!

Hi Gray, the first Tuesday clashes with Worcestershire so I can't do 4th October but will try for 1st November.

Cheers
