Hi I am a new member S. London and Surrey. Has anyone experience of the KTM Freeride E? The Freeride E is now available at less than £6 grand new. Range is the crunch issue - about 45 miles on Eco power setting. If G.L. average speed is 20 mph should give 2 hours riding time. I guess the bike would have to be towed to the start of the ride.

My mate had a couple, he now rides the beta X trainer, which he reckons is a much more sorted bike..

2 hrs riding time :o . I guess it all depends on the individual as all riders and rides are different ie, my normal ride would be 85 miles + including road work which I would be doing 40/50 mph on . So a big no no for me as I would spend more time charging it than I would riding :D

I've ridden one, and it's a fantastic experience.

Howevber, as with most EVs, range is the issue. The standard battery is god for 45 minutes of intensive play...you'd get more ridden gently, but still not enough to make a practical green-lane bike...yet.

There are two essential accessories you need to go laning on an E bike....

A tow rope and a mate with a petrol driven bike

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Energy_density

You'd get more miles per kg of energy storage from a steam bike than an e-bike with the best battery technology available.

Now there officially sanctioned by the government I am holding out for a Franco-Chinese built nuclear bike, would go for ever on a couple of kilos of uranium.
