Hi All

I think I've joined today, paid my money anyway? Used to ride the lanes a few years ago and have still got the maps.
But, heard lots of them have been closed! Don't want to ride illegal. I ride trials (well wobble round the dead easy ones) and
a member of Man 17. I'm interested in finding out about legal riding in the Bollington / Macclesfield area. Do you have meetings
around here or is it always in Ashton?

Cheers

Mark

Greetings Mark,

Welcome from the Manchester Group.

We do have many runouts through the year that will pass over your way and sometimes we do start out from a location in Macclesfield or Whaley Bridge. It is also possible to join us mid ride depending upon who is leading and where they are going to.

Take care around your area as many lanes that used to be ridden are now Restricted Byways or Bridleways. Please do not be tempted to ride the old Jenkins Chapel route as that can only be used for specialist purposes now and we do not wish to disturb our good relationship with the neighbours. Lucky you, right on the doorstep if not in the garden itself.

We have a meeting on this coming Monday evening and you would be most welcome to come over with your maps and we can update you.

No doubt the good folk from the High Peak Group will be in touch, they perhaps might be a little closer to your location. Great bunch of folk and recently they organised and repaired the route up Cumberland, well done lads you even made a positive impact into the PDNPA newsletter.

TTFN

Hugh.

Thanks Hugh

I seemed to be slap in the middle of the Manchester group and the High Peak Group, so wasn't sure which would be nearer?

How often do you meet up? I don't think I'll be able to make this Monday due to work, but I'm keen to come to the next meeting either
in Ashton or if the High Peak group have a different meeting venue and time?

How do I find out about the ride outs and where they're going, so I could join mid way as you say? Is it just organised on here or is there
a timetable of rides?

Also, do I get a membership card? or something like that, I joined yesterday.

Thanks
Mark

Greetings Mark,

The wheels of the TRF rumble along as fast as the various volunteers can get work their way through.

Yes you will eventually get a membership card; machine sticker; letter of acknowledgement and then you will be able to visit all of what is called this Forum. There is a 'Facebook' webpage but I do not use it, Ludite :o Once your membership is complete the colour of your name will change from black to brown, when online it will change from brown to green

Some Groups post everything on here, such as Manchester which lists its ride outs on the Forum based upon a first come first served approach, if somebody has some special requirement then they can contact our chairman or run coordinator. Other groups prefer to have their own Facebook page set up. All of the contact details for each Group are on the TRF welcome page.

You can also apply for a security code to access Trailwise which is a voluntarily run system to record details about various routes. It is not totally up to date but it is getting there since a few more people are recording their use.

My advice is not to go out on your own for safety reasons and because you need to find out which routes are effectively legal to use. Non of us goes out for conflict, unlike a very few anti motorists, so it is best to know your rights and our code of conduct. Simple, just smile, either they smile back or it naffs them off even more

Hugh.

Hi Mark and welcome,

There are several of us in the Manchester Group who live south of Stockport.
Many of our rides start in Marple but we do occasionally start in Macclesfield or Whaley Bridge, or if you have a van or trailer there is North Wales as well.
You need to contact Alan H our ride secretary if you want to book on a ride before you can access the members section.
Nothing this weekend but if you want to go out next weekend give Alan a call before the meeting, will send you a PM with contact details.

Peter

Hi Peter

That's great information, thanks for the heads up. I'm not sure when I'll next be able to get out
but I'll get in touch with Alan.

Thanks again

Mark
