Hi there,
There's more detail on the Gap here:
viewtopic.php?f=117&t=18529I'm not sure why the posting from 'Tony Bliar' found its way into that thread, but the rest is relevant.
The TRF view is that The Gap is a legal highway for motor vehicles as it was realigned in the early years of the last century and dedicated for use by motors along its length. Members are asked to respect the original TRO dates to prevent the route being damaged.
The BBNPA probably holds a different view to that of the TRF...but the TRF is prepared to defend its members in court. I don't know of any other motorcycling organisation that would have the knowledge or resources to do this, which shows what a wise decision you made to join the TRF.
I shouldn't take too much notice of what's posted on RoW matters on other trail riding forums...it seems to be mostly based on missinformation, and I wonder why people bother to comment on topics that they clearly know nothing about. I gather most of those other forums appear to be struggling for one reason or another.
All the best, and hope to see you soon.
Richard
