Just as a stop over on the way up and way down from Yorkshire. On bikes but not trail riding.

Twin room wanted early Oct on a Thursday and maybe Sunday return

Any recommendation within the area, a few miles either way wont make any different, anywhere in the dark peaks will be nice.

Anybody?

Did all those attending the peaks demos just travel the day and not stop over?

I can't recommend anywhere, never having stopped in the peaks, 'cos I live here.

The Ladybower pub has rooms, so does Fox House, both would be classed as being in the dark peak. The Bulls Head in Foolow is a great pub to eat at, it has rooms and the landlord is a TRF member...

Hi Red,

Sorry i was not following this thread.

we stayed in Fox House for the 24th April Demo. The room was cheap ( if you booked through one of the cheap room websites) and clean but not special. the food and beer ( girls behind the bar were friendly)in the pub is very good.

It is very conveniently placed hence using it now for both protests.

Glad somebody has made a recommendation from experience.
Local members don't normally stay locally overnight so it's difficult to suggest somewhere.
There are so many places that you could use so you might need to be slightly more specific about your needs i.e. cheap and cheerful, good food, pub B&B, Private House B&B, 3-star, etc.

If you want to be close to Ladybower then consider Bamford and do an internet search, other places to consider are Castleton, Hope, Hathersage.

Other option is to contact the local tourist information office (Castleton) and ask for a list of B&B's, these are often higher quality but consequently higher priced.

Thanks for the replies.

TRF landlord at Foolow...........

Expecting around £65 for a room, not 5 star but not too much sawdust either.

Just somewhere to stop off from the south coast to Dales on the way up, and on the way down as will be doing a few of teh Peaks tarmac roads and always like a trip up to teh top of ladybower, but anywhere within an hour is fine.

Its always nice to have a recommendation of people who have stayed (thank Mike on Fox House, bike parking okay i guess) and thoughts of locals

As said if a place is recommended it might be cheaper booking through agent than direct.
Cheers

Two bikes with locks and alarm chained together, sometime remote is good. Might call and check street view.

Gone for the Bulls Head at Foolow..............thanks SHarper

The Ladybower is next to the main road, and the room can be noisey from road and others in the pub etc.

The Fox Inn was good, but thought about the parking note, so swayed to the Bull, I trust the TRF landlord will help when we arrive.
