Hi gents. I'm Simon from Basingstoke, and looking to get into green laning and make some new mates. I had a DTR125 as my first ever bike, and did green laning for about a year before getting my full license and moving onto road bikes. However, I miss the countryside and trails massively, and the fun of riding off road with others, so am looking to get back into it. A fellow TRF member on another forum I go to pointed me here, so here I am. :)

I've been told the Eastleigh meet is probably closest to me. My question is, what goes on there?

Also, I have some suitable gear already from last time round, but not the bike. I've been struggling to find one on the usual ebay/autotrader/piston heads type sites, so perhaps members here may have bikes for sale or suggestions? I'd be interested in anything 250 or above, and have about £1500 to spend, so I'm not expecting a young pristine machine.

Looking forward to meeting some of you guys and getting covered in mud again. :)

Loddon Vale TRF are an active group near you - I believe they have quite a few members in your area and meet in Reading

Alright chaps!

@force4fun - Thanks mate. That probably is closer than the Eastleigh meet. I don't suppose there's any problem with meeting both bunch of guys? Ride two loads of routes etc.

@dis258 - Sounds good Dave. I'm looking at google maps and seeing lots of green stuff between me and you, so sounds like there's potential for some routes between us. Not even got the bike yet, but I'm already thinking ahead about a little trailer, so basingstoke (Tadley actually) to Guildford would be easy with the bike in tow.

Hi Simon,

Welcome and good to hear you are getting back on the dirt.

I live near Odiham. Happy to meet up when you have a bike. There are loads of trails south of the M3 down to Alton.

Graham

@Dave - Salisbury plains sound like a very good shout. Just looking on google maps it looks like the closest place with a lot of space, so I'm definitely up for that. What's the access like? I know the military do a lot of training there, so do we have to outrun .50cal machine gun fire and apache helicopters?

@Graham - Hello mate. Nice to see another one close by. I'll give you a shout too when I finally sort myself out with a bike. The daily trawl of websites is on going. The TRF chap I already know said another member flogged him a bike when he went to his first monthly meeting. If I haven't got one by then, I'll be expecting someone to sell me their bike (old or current! :) ) when I attend the first meet. :D

I'm up for that mate. Sadly I'm still without a bike. Not found one in my price range yet. May not be until towards the end of next month now. Let me know if you guy find any sweet routes. I'll post back here once I'm finally sorted.
