Free with my insurance.............otherwise I would choose RAC as they do accident recovery, most recovery companies dont.

I get mine via my Bank Account (Barclays) for £15 a month but that includes

RAC Recovery (inc homestart, hire car and European cover) for any car or bike up to 11 years old
Worldwide Travel Insurance
Mobile Phone insurance
Credit Card Protection
Home SOS Service
Extended Warranty for any new electrical stuff (adds a year to the standard warranty)
Legal Services
Will Writing Service

(I had to go and look that lot up)

I also get RAC cover through both my bike Policies (both Aviva via MCE) I did ask if I could drop that and get a discount but they wouldn't do it.

If you decide to go down the RAC route.....don't forget you can use your Tesco club card points.

Works out very good value..........much better than spending the face value in the store.

Britannia Rescue - even cheaper if you are a CSMA member (ex civil service or married to one).
You can get a personal one that covers any vehicle you are travelling in/on but make sure you tell them one is a bike so it smooths the operation if recovery etc is needed - they use local agents, not their own fleet.
I don't think anyone will pick you up from the middle of a moor on an 8 mile lane though.

Check the 'freeby/cheap' bank ones as my old Green Flag cover was so basic that it was hardly worth having and upgrading was eye wateringly expensive. Wouldn't touch bikes either.

I would agree that many add ons to bank accounts etc are very basic but that's what attracted me to the Barclay's deal as it is the full blown Recovery/Home Start/Replacement Car/European cover shebang!

My bike insurance breakdown only covers one bike, not the second. Thats Bikesure, and Markerstudy underwriting. There is no limit on the number of call outs unlike my old RAC policy. The local bike recovery companies know me well!

My green flag fully comp was extortionate, I get some free cover with Natwest. Had to triple check, with Natwest's free travel insurance, I rang twice to check their policy covered motocycling in europe, and especially any restrictions like under 125cc only, only on my third call to the underwriters, I was told I wouldn't be covered as I'd had my full licence for less than 3 years.

Check out this link for all the options: http://www.moneysavingexpert.com/insurance/roadside-recovery

I went with AutoAid which gives breakdown repair/recovery cover for me and my wife for any vehicle (including motorcycles), limited home breakdown cover, and covers accidents too. At £38 a year it was the best deal for me.

It is a pay and reclaim type insurance policy though, so you need to be in a position to pay for recovery etc. at the time.

Fortunately, I've not had the need to test them out, but the reviews are good.

Nigel.
