Anyone fancy a pint? Cos I do!

Hello, I am thinking of returning to biking, (for 'Green Road' (sorry) trail riding). Used to go off road, (Leicestershire, Fosse/Watling Street Crossroads) on a Yam DT125 years ago but succummed to a FZR600 laterly. That suffered from spouse interference and had to let it go. Have not had 2 wheels for about 3 years. Thinking of something light again, up to 250cc, semi off road such as a TDR with nobbly rubber, or something like that.

Anyone any advice/thoughts.

Many thanks.

hi mixmyth
on the bike front the tdr is more than a little road bias in handling and gearing a ttr250 would be a better compromise decent power for a newby(not too tiring) handles well on the road and sips at fuel, electric start a decent second hand about 1500 to 2000
hope this helps

Thanks slartyBF. I will look around for something. I need a project, like taking a TDR and making it trail ride-able. Maybe something a little different, something that was designed 80% on road 20% off, and a little older and a little lighter than the norm. I don't need a lighter bike for inexperience, (off roading did my knee ligaments 15 years ago), I just fancy something two stroke and I can pick out of the mud, that the Landys have left, when I fall off.

Hello Mixmyth

As has been said the TDR is just not going to cut it on the trails mate - it's 137kg dry and almost totally road biased. You really should look at something like the Yamaha TTR250; brilliant green lane bike and will even do a hare and hounds with the right mods. They're easy to ride and designed for off-road use & abuse, a TDR isn't.
