Dorset also have their own Facebook and local forum. Google Dorset trf forum and search for Dorset trf in FB. You'll need to register to gain access to the forum.

Most rides are posted there and their Facebook page.

They might insist you pay an extra tenner for these benefits.

Why would a bonified TRF group charge an extra tenner to a member that has already paid to join the trf???

Very good question.
No wonder it's confusing to new members.

I understand that some groups used to charge to cover the cost of meeting rooms, a newsletter etc. Others may charge to cover the cost of their Rights of Way activity etc.

Perhaps nowadays those which insist on making a substantial charge are doing so to cover the cost of hosting and maintaining their own social media networks...a shame really when there's a ready-made one here.

Many respected business people can give instruction on what happens when an organisation starts to fragment its channels of communication. You end up with people operating in what are called 'silos'...oblivious to what's going on elsewhere in the organisation and sometimes in the outside world too. The least damage that it done is that a lot of effort is wasted in trying to keep everyone in touch.

In clubs and voluntary organisations you get little cliques forming around the various communication channels, which can cause considerable ill-feeling and in some cases eventual disintegration.

It's what happens when people re-invent the wheel.

Well said Richard. I agree.

Very difficult to believe this has been allowed to happen.

I am surprised and a little disappointed by some of the responses above to a new members question which I believe will be seen by some as defamatory and against forum rules.

May I remind posters that it was not long ago that the TRF members were toasting Dorset group success in the map scales case at the Supreme Court.

Road Conservation at a local level costs local money.

Local groups have the ability to ask local members for voluntary contributions to support their local activities.

I don't see any Dorset group members complaining about the small levy and if so this should be addressed locally not on the National forum.

I also see posts from members of other groups who function on an annual local sub of £20, yet complain about Dorset charging £10. How can this be?

In my view, these posts not only defame Dorset TRF but bring the TRF and its groups structure into disrepute.

May I suggest that some members may wish to "wind their necks in", revisit their posts and base them on facts rather than supposition?
