One had a good cycling book which described in detail how to defend yourself from a dog attack with your bike pump!

Great, touched my feeling of chuckle..... Sorry thats sense of humour I had Google translate switched on.

Do you suppose the Japanese had a laugh at the translated British bike manuals of the same era?

I have successfully defended myself against canine assult with a bike pump.

There was a fiendish Jack Russell that would launch itself out of a high hedge at passing cyclists. I was caught out for many Sundays. Eventually I hatched a plan and, following a swift blow between the eyes with my mountain bike pump, the little pharqer maintained a respectful distance on subsequeant Sundays.

A similar procedure could be brought to bear in schools, and respect for society could be restored.

Comments please...

I remember back in the early eighties my friend had an MZ TS250, the manual had this handy advice...

"When riding always keep two fingers ready in case of emergency"

I'm sure they were talking about the front brake; or maybe not?
