is there any meets rides out around Newcastle as I don't know any green lane routes in or around Newcastle

Not all of the Groups register their rides on this forum any more so you may have to make direct contact with those local to you. If you are familiar with Facebook then you might be able to search on there, I do n't use it so can't help on that way.

May I suggest that you do not just go out on your own looking for non surfaced routes as there are many pit falls regarding Rights of Way and I should hate for you to get into bother as you start your quest.

A big trf welcome from newcastle where in Newcastle do you live?I'm from the west end and I usually start from heddon on wall or Blaydon.there is a monthly Northumbria trf meeting in Blaydon on the first wednesday of each month.
Most rideouts are organised on the Northumbria trf facebook page so you may want to join that.
I think I should be out one day next weekend if you're free...
