I looked again at my post of Nov 25th stating TRF's reasoning why the forum is important. This is still valid.

I have not come across a single director who is currently advocating letting the forum die.

I have full confidence that the right man is on the job and simply suggest you allow him some time.

Maybe one supplying the usernames of all members, so we can contact (PM) each other freely on the non-public section, as we are all in the same club and often need to communicate with other regional group members.

For the record, seeing as my name has been dragged into this conversation, I have no responsibility or input on the Forum developments. My work is based on the TRF Website, Social Media, Brand, Shop and general marketing, all external communications.

Over the last year I have put forwards a number of proposals on how the internal communications of the TRF could progress and will be happy to contribute if/when required.

My understanding is that the Forum falls between the Directors responsible for Internal Communications and I.T. - I have had discussions with both and I can reassure you that the issues raised in this thread are an their radar. The options available all have pros and cons and whilst I have not been involved in the Director level conversations, I believe that a lot of the discussion is about rationalising potential benefits against risks and making sure that the next steps are right for the long term future of the TRF.

My apologies.
When I first started looking on the website for many years, I was unable to see the regional group sections, only the public forum. .. Once I joined, I was then able to see the group sections. I therefore presumed that they were the non public forums.
Most users in our group have had similar situations and we find they are resolved when National somehow switch on their access (possibly when subs are received)
When I look at the forums from any other computer than my own, I can only see the Public Forums. Only if I enter my password etc, then I can see the member sections.
I can only presume therefore that non-members are allowed to set up a username and password and look into the Members area.
I thought, all my posts posted on the members section were not viewable on the public forum.... Although i'm wondering if it shows on the "view active topics" anything that has currently been replied to - having done a quick check, it appears not to.
Again, i'm only trying to ask for clarification as secretary, i'm not complaining.

As the OP, I will take the liberty of butting in.

The lack of apparent enthusiasm shown from the directors for the forum on the forum is extremely noticeable and the renewal has been dragging on for ages and ages now.

The decline can't continue, hence my request for a date when we can expect our new whizz bang super duper forum to be unleashed on the excited membership.

Is the work being done by a volunteer or a paid contractor?
If a volunteer, then we are grateful for the time and effort put in but, as the forum is so important, should there not have been an investment in a specialist who can push the operation on quicker?
If that is the case, why has it taken so long.
This is not denigrating gregsta's work but keeping the professional approach we need to move forward.

I gather this and my 'Future of the TRF' questions are being discussed by the directors tomorrow, please come up with some positive answers
