Hi gents, looking to buy myself a dedicated trail rider. Let me know what you have for sale. My only requirement at the moment is that it doesn't cost more then £2500. Looking forward to all the options :D :D
Thank you

p.s. I live near Stanstead

Do you want the rider or a bike? Not sure £2.5k is enough for most to consider whoring themselves out full time but you might be lucky. !!

Did you ride out with us on the Tiger? Will keep a lookout for something that may suit but it would be worth thinking a bit about what type of bike you actually want. Trail bike or more enduro styled? The latter may be more difficult to find in good condition in your price range.

Smokinrider not even part time?
Hi Vern, yes that's me. Not sure what I want, i was think something a bit more dirt orientated as I have a bike for the road. I really like the Husqvarna te250 (although I don't know much about it) but I'm open to all suggestions.

Thank you

When you say the te250 there's several sorts. Post 2014 te(2stroke enduro) or 2010-2014(very fragile, Chinese made for BMW x lite engined 4 stroke, with fueling issues, if they haven't been modded) 2003-2004 te250 ( first edition of new generation yellow huskys, thin valve stems which wear and stretch) 2004-2007/8 more powerful 250s but getting too old to be considered reliable/cheap to maintain, 2007/8-2010 red huskies same as 2004-2007 but with later models going Fi.

In your price range you could see anything from a dealer 2004 to a private 2012.

I've loved all my huskies. 2004 250 (dropped a valve and knocked out a big end). 2006 250 great bike,2010 250 starter issues and fuel injection issues) 2011 310 fuel injection issues and now 2015 300 stoker best bike ever made.

Any older enduro bike will be a gamble. You could get a bargain that turns into a mare or you could by a private owned never raced gem.

Unfortunately the 2-3k used enduro model market will always be a massive gamble. What ever make or colour you choose.

What do you guys think about a crf250L. I read in many places that it's a very road orientated bike.

Cheap. Reliable. Very reliable. Economical. Spares availability good. Comfortable. Quite capable within the confines of road gearing. Better with decent tyres.
Just NEVER get on anything else, or you will regret buying one.
And don't let it fall on you - the extra 40/50/60 kilos heavier than more focused machines will be made immediately apparent, and you could be trapped for days :-)

I can't say anything bad about them because they do what they do, but I wouldn't recommend one for solely Lane use.
