£2200 (Based in Manchester, UK)
I’m selling my pride and joy, a 2002 KTM 640 with 7848 miles on the clock. It is a fantastic bike for on or off-road travel, and is the perfect beast to take you around the world. It has been well looked after throughout its life, and has been living in a dry garage.

I prepared it for full overland travel, and as such it is ready to go. It’s light enough that even a beginner can ride it off-road, and you won’t break your back picking it up.

Since the last MOT in april, I have only put 27 miles on the clock. As such, it is time to let it move on to a loving new home. Last MOT had no advisories, and runs until april 2018.

The bike also has:

SW Motech panniers and rack. The panniers are quick release (takes about 10 seconds per side), but are rock solid and well built. (Installed about 550 miles ago).
Oxford heated grips (installed about 250 miles ago).
Upgraded 18l fuel tank (which is more like 20l, and good for 200 miles). These are very hard to get hold of!
Original 11l KTM fuel tank and side panels.
Original KTM skid plate.
Tool tube under the rear fender.
Full service kit, including the oil, filters, etc.
Original workshop manual.
Aftermarket Excel wheels with Talon hubs.
Most MOT’s (only missing 2).
Stacks of old receipts, even including the original purchase receipt for the bike!
Couple tyre levers, including a 27mm tyre lever wrench to remove the wheels.
Three keys.

And how about the bad points I hear you ask? What could be wrong with such a fantastic bike..
The left hand mirror is cracked at bottom.
Headlight glass is cracked. (It passes MOTs like this).
Obviously both are really easy and cheap fixes.

If you have done your research you’ll know there are 3 inherent issues with these bikes. The main bearing, the front wheel, and the vibrations.
The main bearing was replaced at 5700 miles with the upgraded taper bearing (So it will never fail again). Receipts to show this. At the same time the piston was replaced.
Both wheels have been upgraded to excel wheels, with talon hubs.
The vibrations from bike to bike vary, and luckily this is one of the low-vibe ones. I’ve done long days on the bike without ever noticing it.

Bike is stored away from my home, so any viewings will need to be made with a bit of notice.
If you’re interested send me a pm, or you can contact me at 07540 809 Four Zero Five.
Thanks,
Paul
