this is a great vid by motoring journalist Harry Metcalfe, who talks us through his collection of Paris-Dakar winning big trail bikes, illustrated with some great pics of the event - a very different event back then to the current South American version

Interesting piece. However when he describes his collection as "Dakar winning bikes" he's misleading us a bit as none of the bikes he owns "actually" won the Dakar and are only the production models of the actual winning models.

Still blast from the past when the Dakar was a proper rally of discovery.
