I am aware that off roading is banned virtually everywhere in Germany but what's it like for fire roads, farm-like tracks and broken roads etc? I see a lot of people out there on adventure bikes but are they the road-only pussies that never stray off tarmac? Or is the adventure bike holiday in Germany actually an adventure?

Interesting thread here on this very topic...

Seems like it's not actually banned...but a similar situation to the UK where private roads and public land is closed but some public roads don't have tarmac

There are more legal routes in Belgium and Luxembourg (yes there is more than just the city!)

Its a little background project I'm looking into, however its not so easy compared to the UK.

I just sold some of my Husky engine parts on ebay to someone in Germany in the north east. He says it is fine there, particularly in the old Eastern Germany. But a little too flat for his liking. Which might be good for big trailies and those silly 1200GS things!

How are you doing this? Desk research or living out there?
