Now here's a thing. Just done one fork leg...all went well. Pulled second leg apart...all well. Now my forks are the kind with two outer bushings, a sleeve and an inner bushing (the one that clips into a groove at the top of the lower leg). The inner bushing can't pass a step on the inner bore of the upper leg. The upper of the two outer bushings won't pass any further than the mouth of the upper leg. I can't see any distortion that would have caused this, but it's as though the inner bore of the upper leg is too small. But I've compared the parts which came out with the parts going back in, and there is no difference in dimension. Is there anything I haven't thought of? I've been really careful of the upper/outer legs: they've not been clamped in a vice or anything. I've even tried warming the outer leg in a bid to increase its internal diameter: no dice. Any ideas? |

It's not a closed shop Richard - just owned my a moronic Canadian website company who never seem to validate applications without a load of us screaming at them. It's not the same as it was when Seth owned it. Happy to ask anyway and will post it on for you. I am now DavidS having changed from ktmatlast. Give it another go and keep in touch with me with your username and I can chase things along if they get tardy. Haven't heard so much about problems lately. They hardly ever moderate so some subjects and language is dodgy to say the least but the help you get is excellent. Just accept insults along the way.

Best of luck. I rebuilt my '57 Triumph forks many many years ago and still have two large thin washers on the shelf. Now I leave that sort of thing to people who can hide the evidence. |
